Our Company’s History
Founded in 1911 by the Women of the Lutheran Deaconess Home, we opened as a Christian kindergarten to help working mothers in need of child care. Likewise, we are duly licensed by the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago Department of Human Services as a professional day care center.
About Our Education Program
Lutheran Day Early Childhood Center has earned 3-Star Quality Counts ratings from the DCFS for our day care services. As of June 2011, we have received re-accreditation from the NAEYC for our education programs. A NAYCE accreditation is a set of standards that marks the quality of early childhood education.
Our Staff and Members
Headed by Illa Doss, our Executive Director with a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Administration, we are a recognized non-profit organization specializing in children’s education. Our Board of Directors includes parents, local church representatives, and members of the community.
